Waterfront Trail
The Waterfront Trail follows the north shore of lake Erie, Niagara river, lake Ontario and the St-Lawrence river from Windsor, Ontario to the Quebec border, where it connects with the Route Verte. Terrain is mostly flat and wind usually comes from the southwest and can quite strong and sustained at times. Spring on southern Ontario comes first in eastern Canada, making for a perfect early season ride. Popular attractions are Pointe-Pelee National Park, Niagara Falls, the city of Toronto and the Thousand Islands, The Route is peppered with wineries, regional and provicial parks, conservation areas and historical sites. Access is relatively easy via train. Services are plentiful but campgrounds are on the expensive side.
